Dagwoods Auto Repair Shop

Between the hours of 8am and 5pm during the weekdays of Monday through Friday owned by Darrin and Becky Howard and located on North Fancher Street you can find Dagwood's Auto Repair. They are a family-owned shop founded in 2005 that focuses on tire changes, vehicle repair and maintenance that serves the local Mt Pleasant and Clare, MI. area. To show the family dynamic, both Darrin and Becky actively work there along with their son Riley. Dagwoods started with three locations all started by Darrin, but now focuses on Mt Pleasant. According to Howard they pride themselves on respect. Each and every customer is treated as family, as they want everyone to know what they are getting done to their vehicles. Even if it is just an oil change or your first inspection, they pride themselves on helping the community more than taking their money. They offer several free services such as; pre-purchase inspections, brake inspections, safety inspections, engine light scanning, and more. Howard states, “You will never be taken advantage of, like I want people to understand what is happening in the process.” This falls under their philosophy of respect, or as Howard calls it, one of their several philosophies. 

REFLECTION

This video was a little bit difficult to film. I had to find a day and time that they had some more availability that way I was not in anyone's way but could sit down with the owner Darrin. It took some time to figure out what I wanted to do for my news reshoot but then I remembered Dagwoods. Every time I have gone there they have treated me very well and made me comfortable. I have been able to learn more about my car from them so I knew this would be a good business to cover. I tried to get as much B-roll as possible but unfortunately when I went they were not that busy so I couldn't get any customer interaction. I am glad I was able to get some of the mechanics working on the cars though so I think that was a good addition. After a while my mind went blank on what kind of b-roll to get so I just ended up trying to get different angles of the shop. Even though I found the missing piece to my tripod, using it was not the easiest. It was harder to rotate from left to right but I think I did a good job keeping it as stable as I could.
