Over the years mental health has become more and more noticeable and involved in humans day to day life. Even though the struggle has become more common, it is not necessarily to the point that those who need help can get it. When people think mental illness they think depression, anxiety, ptsd those kinds. What they may not know is how big the umbrella for mental illnesses go. Some of the lesser known are bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dissociative disorders and the list goes on.

While resources are not available everywhere, five main states in the United States have the most accessible care for those going through a crisis. Follow the map in rainbow order to see what states are the more accessible.

While some people in Michigan feel they have the ability to get the help they need, a lot still struggle to make those connections and get the help they need. People find comfort and support in different ways and often times that starts with where you feel the most supported.

Where do you have the most support when it comes to your mental health?

  • At school

  • At home

  • With family

  • With my friends

Even though it is still not widely resourceful, going back to the 19th century when accessibility was just starting to take place the means for getting help when going through a mental crises has changed significantly. Going from the use of asylums to community health centers, acts and laws have helped improve the acceptability of those with a mental illness.

Mental Health is a serious topic that needs to be discussed. If you or anyone are struggling and need help there are people available to help so do not hesitate to reach out to someone. The access to help has evolved over time and it is easier to get the help someone may need to get them feeling better and more like themself.
